
John “Johnny” Vaughan, Sr., age 88, of Dallas, GA, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2025. Johnny lived a rich and meaningful life, marked by hard work, deep faith, and a steadfast love for his family and the land he called home.
A proud lifelong farmer, Johnny poured his heart into the earth, cultivating not just crops but a legacy of resilience, kindness, and dedication to the agricultural way of life.
He was well known for his unwavering work ethic, warm smile, and incredible storytelling. Anyone who spent time with him will remember his genuine hospitality, his love of a good laugh, and the simple joy he found in sharing meals and memories with those he loved most.
John “Johnny” was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Betty Wheeler Vaughan, father, William Odell Vaughan, and mother, Kate Shealy Vaughan.
Johnny is survived by his beloved children, John Vaughan, Jr. (Anna), Jody Vaughan (Kathy), and Susie Gulledge (Gary). He was a proud grandfather and soon to be great grandfather to Katie (Chandler), Cheyenne (Jacob & Oliver), Cierra, Dylan, and Rachel, who will forever carry cherished memories.
A funeral service will be held in honor of Johnny on May 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at New Canaan Baptist Church, with a visitation preceding the service at 1:00 p.m. Reverend George Barnett will officiate. Johnny will be laid to rest in the church cemetery following the service. Friends and family are also invited to a visitation at Clark Funeral Home on May 12, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the New Canaan Baptist Church, Cemetery Fund, 3147 Atlanta Highway, Dallas, GA 30132 in memory of Johnny.
Johnny Vaughan’s life was a testament to the values of hard work, love, and faith. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace.
