Mrs. Mamie P. Thaxton Hogan

Mrs. Mamie P. Thaxton Hogan, age 83, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 23, 2025.

Mrs. Hogan was born in Aragon, GA, on July 1, 1941, daughter of the late James Daniel Pinion and Pauline Edwards Pinion.

She had lived the greater part of her life in Rockmart and was retired from Zartic Foods as a dispatcher. Mrs. Hogan was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, the WMU and was a Sunday School teacher and prayer warrior.

In her younger years she loved to bowl and later enjoyed playing cards with her Golden Girls. Mrs. Hogan enjoyed working her flowers in her garden and loved to cut her grass.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hogan was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Thaxton, the father of her children, Donald V. Thaxton, sister, Barbara Dodd, three brothers, James Pinion, Mac Pinion, and Gerald Pinion, and a daughter-in-law, Dianna Thaxton.

Mrs. Hogan is survived by three children, Cindy (Danny) Bowman, Roy (Theresa) Thaxton, and Don Thaxton; two sisters, Christine McDowell and Janie Tant. Nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hogan will be held on Wednesday afternoon, March 26, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miler & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Cliff Cook, Rev. Jim Tucker, and Rev. Roy Thaxton officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery of Paulding County.

Mrs. Hogan’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Tuesday evening, March 25, 2025, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will include Brett Bowman, John Bowman, Nathaniel Thaxton, Anthony Thaxton, Joey Thaxton, and Joshua Thaxton. Honorary pallbearers will include Mitch Garner and Dan Moore.

Joel Douglas (Doug) Brumelow Sr.

Joel Douglas (Doug) Brumelow, Sr. (Papaw) died peacefully on December 28, 2025 at Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain in Cobb County, Georgia. He was born at home in Paulding County, Georgia, to Herman Brumelow and Juanita Meadows Brumelow on June 3, 1940.

Doug was known for his incredible work ethic and was always the first one there to lend a helping hand. He was retired from Georgia Power Company and Precision Electric. He loved farming, cutting his grass, and fishing, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

He is predeceased by his parents, Herman and Juanita Brumelow; his wife of 59 years, Marion Kennedy Brumelow; brothers, Charles Brumelow, Donald Brumelow Sr. (Sandra), Wendell Brumelow, brothers-in-law, Dennis Arrington, and Emmitt Kennedy, and daughter-in-law Kim Trapuzzano.

He is survived by his daughters, Donna Long (Keith), Darlene Kenney (Steve), son, Joel D. Brumelow II, grandchildren, Jonah Long (Elizabeth Thompson), Canaan Long, Anthony Trotter (Pam Flynn), Wendy Brown (Marc), Staci Abercrombie (Tara), Lydia Kenney, Erin Kenney (fiance Andrew Thompson), Baylie Fisher (Thomas), Hunter Brumelow, TJ Trapuzzano, Zach Trapuzzano (Cristi), and Haley Trapuzzano (fiance Stephen Ulmer). Great-grandchildren, Hayden Hall, Caroline Fisher, Ivy Fisher, Makenzie Dalton, Marcus Freeman, Maverick Abercrombie, sisters-in-law, Debbie Brumelow, Nancy Arrington, Cheryl Kennedy, brother-in-law Joseph Kennedy, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Doug is also survived by his loyal companion, his little dog, Lucy.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the Sam Clark Chapel. Following the funeral service, interment will be held in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery of Powder Springs.

Pall Bearers: Hunter Brumelow, Jonah Long, Canaan Long, Thomas Fisher, Ken Brumelow, Joe Breitbach.
