The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office is using some cash from the state to help ensure that drivers are utilizing local roadways safely – and if they aren’t, they might end up with a ticket.
The Sheriff’s Office are utilizing the Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic (H.E.A.T.) Grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety to increase the amount of traffic enforcement the agency can undertake on a daily basis.
It provides the salaries for three deputies at the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and the vehicles they drive around, which in turn has increased the number of traffic stops they’ve been able to make.
Those figures since late Fall 2025 include 276 seatbelt violations, 1,338 speeding tickets, 224 stops for violating hands-free laws (texting while driving, etc.) and have made multiple arrests.
Arrest figures also include around a dozen DUIs and another dozen wanted individuals who were behind the wheel or in a vehicle during a stop.
“This grant, along with the critical funding and resources it provides, supports our ongoing efforts to reduce impaired driving, speeding, and other dangerous behaviors on our roads,” the PCSO noted in a social media post about the H.E.A.T. grant being used by the agency.
