Mr. George F Ruppenicker Jr.

Mr. George F. Ruppenicker Jr., age 97, of Dallas, GA, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026.

Born on August 29, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY, George was the son of the late George Sr. and Amanda Ruppenicker.

George was a distinguished graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in 1954. He dedicated his career as an engineer with the U.S. Department of Agriculture until his retirement. An avid football fan of Georgia Tech and the New Orleans Saints, George found joy not only in sports but also in giving back to his community as a volunteer at Wellstar Paulding Hospital.

He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Pat Ruppenicker, and a cherished father to his sons, George (Trudi), David (Shawn), and Tom (Karla) Ruppenicker, and to his daughters, Donna Ruppenicker (Karoline) and Kimberly Guidry (Glenn). George also took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to Gillett Lanaux, Eva Wilmontt (Nick), Anna Hart (Sean), and Chad Ruppenicker, and he was a delighted great-grandfather to Lachlan Hart. He is also survived by his brother, Harry Ruppenicker (Marguerite). In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his first wife, Miriam Ruppenicker.

George was a 50-year Mason, celebrated for his commitment to fellow members and the values they share. He enjoyed traveling and spending quiet hours tending to his garden.

Funeral service for George will be at Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, GA, on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 2:00 pm with Pastor Blake Trent officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:00 pm until the time of the funeral. He will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell, LA, on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital at shrinerschildrens.org or to the Dallas First United Methodist Church, 141 E. Memorial Drive, Dallas, GA 30132.

Obituaries

Rev. Dwight L.Young, 95, went to be with Jesus on March 2, 2026, in Hiram, Georgia.

He was a faithful member of New Canaan Baptist Church in Dallas, Georgia. He was born in Union Church, MS, at home on October 4, 1930, the fourth child and first son to Leon V. and Dollie Thornton Young. He made his profession of faith at the age of 12.

Dwight knew at a young age that he wanted to be a pastor. He graduated from Mississippi College, and then Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree.

He was a veteran of the Korean War.

Dwight held pastorates in western Canada, Michigan, South Carolina, and Arizona. His calling was to be a church planter where he pastored small churches and grew them into larger churches.

Rev. Young had a passion for sharing the Gospel of Christ and winning the lost to know Jesus. He ministered to people and met them where they were and cared for their needs. His favorite Bible verse was, “This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24).

He always had a smile on his face and faced life with joy in his heart. Some of his interests over the years included tinkering with cars, fixing anything, bowling, boating, and card games, but most of all spending time with his daughters and their families.

Rev. Young is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 52 years, Carolyn Collins Young; his second wife of 17 years, Christine Cochran Young; and his three sisters and two brothers.

He is survived by his four daughters: Brenda Ferrell (TN), Peggy Chase (Ron) (AZ), Sharon Maddox (GA), and Sandra Burnham (David) (GA); 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life on May 9, 2026, at 11 am at Benson’s Funeral Home in Dallas, Georgia, with receiving of friends at 10 am.
