Schools closed on Monday ahead of ice storm

Paulding county school district fine arts program

Icy conditions are set to start tonight, and Paulding County School District has already decided to keep kids off the roads on Monday.

Campuses will be closed districtwide on Monday, January 26 following the end of the winter storm pushing through Georgia through the second half of the weekend.

The District noted this will not be a remote learning day for students.

Along with campus closures, all athletic events and practices are called off as well, and students and staff should remain home.

Additional updates will be provided as the district assesses conditions for classes on Tuesday.

Icing from freezing rain moving through the county will be heavier on the eastern side of Paulding than the west. At least a quarter inch of ice is expected to accumulate on the western side of the county toward Yorkville and Dallas, and Hiram and Powder Springs should get at least .4 inches of ice.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO NAVIGATE THE ROADS IN THESE CONDITONS.

Check back for more closure updates as they become available.
